Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Amber Birch is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Idaho Falls with telehealth options for Idaho residents as well. She is board certified to independently diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for psychiatric conditions. She attended graduate school at Eastern Kentucky University. Prior to this she earned three undergraduate degrees from Idaho State University and the University of Idaho. She has experience with psychiatric inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to the medical field she has worked in a variety of industries including university research, biomedical lab work, PSR services, and teaching. Varied job opportunities in addition to experience in the health field makes Amber a well-rounded provider.
She considers herself a minimalist when it comes to prescribing medications. She believes in exploring the minimal amount needed, if any, to reach your goals and reducing medications safely, when appropriate. She stays current in the psychiatric medical field by reading and listening to peer-reviewed research topics. Additionally, she makes it a point to educate patients as much as possible regarding their treatment in addition to other healthy practices. Her job satisfaction comes from helping people, of all ages and from all walks-of-life, bloom wherever and however they were planted.
Amber is an Idaho native who spent a little time bouncing around during and after college and during her husband’s military post in San Diego. She enjoys soccer, making art, camping, travelling, and seeking new experiences. She doesn’t enjoy yardwork, TV dinners, and driving in Idaho Falls during rush hours. She considers her strengths as playing with children, cooking, planning events and thriftiness. Weaknesses include staying on top of laundry, sports involving throwing, deciding on paint colors, and ice cream…definitely ice cream.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Robert Greenig is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner that works with all patients across the lifespan. While he was born in Colorado, he has lived in Idaho almost his entire life and considers Idaho home. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and completed his bachelor’s degree in nursing at Brigham Young University – Idaho. He went on to work as an RN in correctional medicine which is where his love for helping those with mental illnesses grew. He continued his education and received his Master of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University.
Robert has experience caring for individuals with all types of mental illnesses. He considers each patient unique and believes building a therapeutic relationship and learning about each patient’s background is vital to treatment. He uses evidenced-based treatment methods in combination with patient preferences and circumstances to formulate the best treatment plan for each patient.
When he is not at work you can find Robert spending time with his wife and son. He loves hunting, traveling, hiking, exercising, and being outside. He hopes to pick up some new hobbies in the future such as fly fishing and may even attempt to get his pilot’s license.
